I’d sooner be tortured to death than not give that old fellow a surprise to-day. (_reflecting_) Well, after this he won’t dare hide his gold here. What he’ll most likely do is bring it out with him and put it somewhere else. (_listening_) Hm-m-m! There goes the door! Aha! the old boy’s coming out with it.
