## Summary

話說前朝全盛之時，四境皆安，惟兩廣地方，山嶺險隘，峒峽深邃，況且 徑路高低盤曲，不能窮其出沒之際。故東至南韶，西至柳慶，周遭數千里山峽 連接，凡有險隘，皆為賊巣賊窟。正南上有一個大藤峽，乃萬山中第一險隘之 處，被一個峒賊所據。這峒賊叫瘟火蛇，生得身長力大，甚是兇惡。使一柄沒 齒釘鈀，足有百斤之重，領著數千小賊，時時出來侵掠州縣，劫奪府庫。地方 百姓，無不受其荼毒。其餘各峒之賊，雖滿布山中，如狼如虎，但遇見瘟火蛇 ，皆要讓他一步，凡作禍亂，必瘟火蛇為首，而眾賊附和之。
