Milyen kellemes hely! A tisztára meszelt falak nyugodt, nehéz bolthajtásokban borulnak a boldog evőkre. Csend van, még a levesnél tartanak; csak a mély, mély ablakfülkékben zümmög néhány dongó. Rézsut besüt a nap. Az inas halkan viszi ki a nagy levesestálat. Az első éhséget hamar elverik, az iskola vesződségétől még elborult paparcok lassan kiderülnek. Még a régi, nagy vasfeszület Krisztusa is könnyebbülve nyújtózik a falon.
