## Summary

Dans un premier voyage en Algérie, d’Oran au Chott El-Chergui, exécuté en 1852, nous avons pu étudier les caractères généraux de la végétation de la province de l’Ouest, et reconnaître les principales lois qui président à la distribution des végétaux dans l’Afrique française. Il était important pour nous de compléter ces notions, et, pour atteindre ce but, nous avons demandé à S. Exc. M. le Ministre de la Guerre de vouloir bien nous accorder son patronage pour un voyage d’exploration analogue dans la province de Constantine[1].
