[16] Book packets for the West Indies can only be sent viâ the United Kingdom, the rate being, under 2 oz., 6 cts., 2 oz. to 4 oz., 13 cts., over 4 oz., 25 cts. the ½ lb. or fraction of ½ lb.

[17] If specially addressed “_Viâ Royal Mail Steamer from Boston_,” (_i.e._ the fortnightly Cunard Packet from Boston to Liverpool, _viâ_ Halifax,) a Letter must be pre-paid as follows:

LETTERS.

For a letter not exceeding ½ oz 12½ cts. ” exceeding ½ oz., and not exceeding 1 oz., 25 ” ” exceeding 1 oz. ” ” 1½ oz. 37½ ”

And so on, increasing 1 rate of postage for each addit’nl ½ oz.

Letters for the United Kingdom must be pre-paid, or they will be charged a fine of 6d. sterling on delivery.

_Registration of Letters for English Mails._

For Registration of a letter for the United Kingdom--8 cts. as a Registration fee, in addition to the Postage. For British Colonies and Foreign Countries see table.

_Both the Postage charge and the Registration fee must in all cases be pre-paid._

NEWSPAPERS.

Newspapers from office of publication to subscribers in the United Kingdom may be forwarded on prepayment of the commuted rate applicable to subscribers within the Province, or singly, at ½ cent each, at the option of the Publisher.

Transient Newspapers must be prepaid one cent each.

BOOK POSTAGE.

For a Packet not exceeding 4 oz. in weight 7 cts. ” exceeding 4 oz. and not exceeding ½ lb. 12½ ” ” ” ½ lb ” ” 1 lb. 25 ” ” ” 1 lb ” ” 1½ lbs. 37½ cts. ” ” 1½ lbs ” ” 2 lbs. 50 ”

LETTERS.

Regulations in respect to pre-payment and to Registration of Letters are the same as those applicable to correspondence by the Canadian Line of Steamers.

NEWSPAPERS:

Regulations in respect to prepayment the same as for Canadian Steamers; Papers, however, sent or received by the Cunard Packet Mails are chargeable ON DELIVERY with two cents additional postage--to cover the American transit charge.

BOOKS.

Book Packets are not forwarded by the Cunard Line of Steamers.
